The dog days of summer are upon us, but not to worry. The cosmetics industry never sweats it. A host of new products has been launched recently to remedy various beauty ills and make us ready for a hot summer in the city. Here’s a look at some of the highlights:
— Liz Earle: Naturally active skin care is the tagline of this progressive British company that specializes in botanically based products. Pure and natural, with many organic ingredients, only mineral sunscreens, no mineral oils or genetically engineered ingredients and very few preservatives, this is one of the best holistic cosmetic companies out there with a comprehensive range of products. Available online at lizearle.com.
— Estee Lauder: Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator is a fast-acting serum proven to dramatically reduce every sign of uneven skin tone: redness, acne marks, dark spots, sun spots and discolorations. In a clinical test, 62 percent of women showed a significant improvement in skin tone in just two weeks. The oil-free formula is gentle and effective for all skin types. $58 at Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom.
— EcoTools: The new Get Glowing Collection from EcoTools features a series of bath accessories, buffers and exfoliators to keep skin smooth. A standout is the Recycled Bath & Shower Gloves, slightly scratchy gloves you use with soap to gently remove dry skin. Try them before you use sunless tanning gel or to get rid of splotchy tan remnants. $3.99 at Target, WalMart and Rite-Aid.
— Topshop: The super cool British clothing company has launched into makeup, available online in the U.S. One highlight is the Gloss, a long-lasting, very shiny but not sticky gloss that promises to create a plumped look. The seven colors are nicely neutral. $10 at topshop.com.
— Burberry: Burberry has introduced the Lip Mist Collection, with nine natural shades containing a hint of color delivered in a sheer shine finish that’s lightweight but lasts. Wild rose moisturizes and protects. $30 at Nordstrom.
— L’Occitane: A makeup collection inspired by peonies? The Pivoine Flora Collection contains peony extract. The colors are sheer, the ingredients natural and made from mineral pigments. The lipstick is especially nice! A new Angelica Skincare line has also been introduced at all L’Occitane stores, made from a flower that grows in the south of France. Using essential oils from angelica, the line concentrates on products that deliver deep, 24-hour hydration. The eye roll-on ($24) helps to diminish puffiness and dark circles.Related posts:
